Ice climbing in the Dolomites is no longer a niche sport for extreme mountaineers. South Tyrol in northern Italy and especially the Val Gardena valley offers usually perfect conditions to follow this passion during winter.
The choice is large: moderate frozen waterfalls are the perfect playground for beginners, demanding ones for advanced climbers. All of them promise a unique climbing experience on ice in the middle of the Dolomites mountain region.
As a certified IFMGA mountain guide I am your man for guided ice climbing tours, training or tester courses (also for groups). Check out your packing list. The missing equipment such as ice axes or crampons for ice climping can be supplied.

South Tyrol is an attractive country for active vacationers. Sometimes, especially at the beginning of the winter season, the conditions are not ideal for ski tours. However, due to constantly low temperatures, many waterfalls are frozen – transformed into magnificent columns of ice- this is where the ice climbing adventure begins! Certainly an outstanding experience.

The climbing rope from above conveys a sense of safety and allows a gentle approach to this facinating winter activity. However, it can also be a good opportunity to improve and learn new tricks and techniques on ice.
