A classical high tour into the eternal ice, as for example on the Ortler, is extremely popular. After all, early risers can expect a breath-taking sunrise. Equipped with crampons and picks, the ascent over long ridges and snow flanks becomes an entertaining challenge until the summit reveals the entire horizon.
