The via ferrata Masarè offers a very varied ridge climbing in the Dolomites and is ideal for beginners and families!
After an easy ascent due to the Paolina chairlift, we hike past the Christomannos monument by keeping the altitude. Our gaze is directed towards the highest peak in the Dolomites, the Marmolada. After passing the Pederiva hut and climbing higher over meadows, finally the western ridge comes into view ahead of us.
All in all the Masarè via ferrata is in very good condition and has been constructed according to the latest criteria. Right at the start awaits us a difficult climbing section, which gives you the opportunity to assess your skills straight away. However, the rest of the via ferrata is rated B for most of the route, so it should be easy to do.
The rope route winds its way around numerous ridge towers and several crevices. It also offers magnificent views of the surrounding valleys, such as the Fassa Valley or Bolzano.
What’s more, the Masaré can also be combined very well with the via ferrata Croda Rossa for a complete traverse.
Once we reach the exit, we pass the Pederiva and/or the Croda Rossa hut on our way back. Here we can take a boost and review our via ferrata adventure before taking the lift down to the valley.
